Headteachers’ Parliamentary Visit

This week Baroness Berridge hosted a parliamentary visit for local headteachers from Rutland.  This visit enabled them to see firsthand the benefit of encouraging their pupils to come to parliament and take advantage of the facilities of the Education Department in the Houses of Parliament.

The group also enjoyed a lunch hosted by the Baroness and attended by Lord Gardiner of Kimble, who is a former pupil of Uppingham School.  The local MP Alan Duncan also took a break from his busy ministerial duties to join the teachers for coffee.

It was very good to get together with fellow local headteachers and to discuss matters of mutual interest, whilst also seeing the workings of the House of Lords from the inside.  We were all most grateful to Baroness Berridge for organising the day.
